Description

Jacquard Cyanotype Part B Solution Ferric Ammonium Citrate 1lb is the second essential chemical used in the cyanotype printing process. Ferric Ammonium Citrate is a light-sensitive iron compound that works together with Potassium Ferricyanide to create the photographic solution required for cyanotype printing.

When the two solutions are mixed and applied to a porous surface, the coated material becomes sensitive to ultraviolet light. Exposure to sunlight causes a chemical reaction that forms Prussian blue pigment, producing the distinctive blue image associated with cyanotype prints.

This historic photographic technique, first introduced in the 19th century, remains widely used today by artists, photographers and educators for creating striking photograms and blueprint-style prints. The process works beautifully on paper, cotton, linen, silk, canvas, wood and other absorbent materials, allowing artists to experiment with both photographic negatives and objects placed directly onto the sensitised surface.
