Essdee was born when Sheffield based studio owner Stanley Dixon, was unable to obtain Scraperboard from Austria during World War 2. Stanley formulated his own Scraperboard product, and found a high demand for the product from artists and illustrators. Educational Art & Craft supplies now uses the brand name for not only the famous Scraperboard but a range of lino printing tools and materials.
